Metalcore meets Melodic & Power Metal with that indefinable X-Factor...

 

 

Australian Metal seems to be going through a great few years under our noses without too many people noticing. There’s so much great home-grown product coming up lately that it almost seems like the scene is booming. ‘A Breach of Silence’ is another name to add to your lists and these guys just could be huge.

 

Like a chef working with new flavours that at first you think won’t mix ‘Breach’ takes Power Metal, Metalcore and a touch of Melodic metal to make something new yet familiar. It’s one of those classic combinations in which you can taste the elements – but which tastes better when combined. If this is the first ‘cake’ so to speak from ‘A Breach of silence’ then it’s a damn fine one.

 

A BREACH OF SILENCE recorded their debut album ‘Dead Or Alive’ at HK Studios in Brisbane, Australia with world-renowned producers Fredrik Nordstrom and Henrik Udd (Bring Me The Horizon, Opeth, In Flames, Arch Enemy). “Dead Or Alive combines the best of old school power metal and metalcore giving this album something of a creative edge, like a breath of fresh air” states guitarist Mat Cosgrove. “Every time you listen to the album you pick up something new, which lends it to never 

 

Of the songs here there’s nothing unworthy but some that standout more than others – opening track ‘Blind’ reminds me of a band I only saw last week – Soilwork, while tracks like ‘Dawn to Rise’ is certainly more reminiscent of their more obvious Metalcore contemporaries -  Killswitch Engage. If you want the absolute cream to start with though it’s hard to get past ‘There Will be Blood’ one of the best hard and heavy tracks of the year.

 

This is one you have to hear.
