Don't expect a band that looks like this with a name like this to blow your world apart with a groundbreaking album you've never heard the like of before... well you do know that's not the point by now right? Eonian exists to bring you the best of the bands that didn't make it back in the day and sometimes you end up with a real gem. The question is what do we have here?

Well in truth at seven songs it’s somewhat a short introduction to a band you’ve probably never heard of before. However like all these types of releases it always gets you thinking ‘what if?’ and we have to be thankful again to Eonian for their quality control.

So if the sleazy sounds of bands such as early Ratt, Faster Pussycat, and Poison (with a harder edge) is up there on your playlists then this is a pretty familiar type of sound and something you might enjoy. It may not be stunningly original but its great fun; and Rattleshake is certainly a band with a knack for a hook.

So what if ‘Shootin' Whiskey’ and ‘Take Me Down’ will never win in the originality stakes: they certainly aren’t at the lower end of the sleaze scale and there’s nothing really bad here either. Both ‘Jump On Me’ and ‘Rattleshake Boogie’ also bear repeated listens: hell the whole album actually stands up against a lot of their contemporaries.

Ballad ‘Never Say Goodbye’ may be formulaic, and sound like a lot of the other typical power ballads of the era but it’s a decent enough song that may even have you singing along. So forget the passing of time for a while, immerse yourself in the spirit of the age and remember a time when rock and roll was still fun.
