A BIG STATEMENT FROM DELAIN

I have had a love/love relationship with symphonic metal over the last couple of years.  Delain is certainly a part of that affair.  I love the powerful instrumentation performed flawlessly and the killer voice laid over top of it, without being too operatic or too light.  Charlotte Wessels has her voice primed and ready to rock.

The disc opens with one of the more powerful tracks here, “Mother Machine.”  This one lights up the disc with a powerful guitar work, drumming that would make any skin pounder jealous, and again the perfect dance between vocals and instrumentation.  This keeps up on the next track and leads nicely to the title track.  This has less of a power guitar, but is still a rocker.  This disc is an excellent addition to my workout routine, as the tempos are perfect for keeping a great pace and my heart rate up.

Another of my favorites is “Milk And Honey.”  This has an infectious chorus and rhythm.  Again, the combination of vocals and music complement each other.  There is even a duet, “Where Is The Blood,” featuring the lofty voice of Charlotte being teamed up with Burton C. Bell.  The rest of the disc is just as strong, including “Generation Me” and one of my favorites presented, “Get The Devil Out Of Me.”

If you are lucky enough to get the US release, you are treated to four bonus live tracks that left me wanting to see these rockers cross the big waters and give the US a tour.
