While the production may not set the world on fire there are some great songs on this release by AudioPorn if you like the big sound of 80’s-tinged hard rock.

We love the opening track ‘Deeper than the Bone’ and to be honest ‘Cry Me a River’ is a huge song – a really nicely constructed epic that reminds me of all that was great about rock back in the day. Now if you can start with a pair like that then the rest of the album can go one of two ways!

Thankfully for us it keeps up the quality: ‘Sweet 16’ takes a more laid back route and turns into a powerful song of longing.

In truth we are spoilt for quality material here: ‘It’s Not a Dream’ rocks riding an almost Def Leppard vibe; ‘Let Me Go’ has some lovely guitar and that summery vibe you can never quite pin down, but turns into perhaps the most contemporary sounding song here and one of the most memorable.

Deeper in we love the modern flavour of ‘Butterfly’ that has a spacey groove and a pop feel that sets it aside; acoustic-led ‘Without You’ again breaks different ground and even has a slight U2 meets Enuff Z’Nuff feel to it.

If anything though it’s the real eighties meets radio rock glory of ‘Breath Away’ and 'Cut' that steal the show for me.

Check these guys out – you’ll be nicely surprised by the consistency.

Great album.
