SISTER SIN

NOW AND FOREVER

VICTORY

2012

Sister Sin’s third album is, and I’ll go out a limb here, probably their best yet. From the blistering anthem “Fight Song” to the fast paced (and current favourite) “In It For Life” this is a metal album that makes you remember what you love about Metal. It’s fast, it’s joyous and the songs don’t stop beating you around the ears until it’s over and if you are like me as it’s on repeat the rock never stops.

A collection of rebel-rousing anthems is just what you need to get the blood pumping and this album hardly lets up. You can pretty much hit shuffle and get a winner: “The Chosen Few” has a huge chorus and that’s kind of the tale of the album and the huge step forward: SS has gone from a band that put out some great songs to a band that can’t fail to write huge songs. By that I mean that there really is no filler here.

There’s also variety here from balls-out rockers like: “Hang ‘Em High”; and “In It To Life” to songs like “The Chosen Few”; “I’m Not You” and “Shades of Black” that have an extra injection of melody behind them. To close we even get an amazing piano ballad “Now and Forever” that really opens up possibilities and is actually one of my highlights.

The future looks bright for Sister Sin and it’s great to see all the hard work paying off. This will be in my runners for album of the year and is probably the best melodic Metal release I’ve heard in 2012 so far.
