SILVER AGE

FEATURE ARTIST: BOB MOULD DELIVERS A LESSON

Bob Mould of course fronted the legendary Husker Du, who spawned so much that came later. Its great then to see him back on form with an album that both echoes his later work with that band as well as recapturing the sound he has with his sadly underappreciated SUGAR project.

‘Silver Age’ starts with a bang and really never lets up 'STAR MACHINE' and 'SILVER AGE' that open are up there with the best we've heard from Bob in ages. He's still the master of the punky pop rocker and the master of the lyric and the 2012 vintage is looking like a good one.

For us it’s hard to pick highlights as the album never dips: but the very ‘Candy Apple Grey’ – ‘The Descent’ is close to perfection; and ‘Fugue State’ adds another texture to proceedings. It’s perhaps ‘Angels Rearrange’ though that takes the prize, or the reflective closer ‘First Time Joy’. Bob is back to his very best.
