RIFF X
Search For A Better Day EP
2012

By Shane Pinnegar

Female fronted metal from the far northlands of Newcastle, England, RIFF X’s second EP is a solidly headbanging three tune sampler featuring the powerful and throaty vocals of Briggita Balogh.

Aptly named, RIFF X have riffs to burn – the title track is relentlessly pounding and catchy, it’s unlikely to leave your head any time soon. Yesterday Is Dead sees Balogh’s passionate vocals in the driver’s seat, pushing the song to the limit and sounding like Crucified Barbara’s Mia Coldheart.

Don’t Lie is a new version of the song which was on RIFF X’s debut EP Bruises (released 2011), and features some chanted backing vocals and another killer chorus.

A band to keep a close eye on, RIFF X have the style, riffs and singer to go far – bookmark them now!
