RON WOOD
I FEEL LIKE PLAYING

Released September 2010

“I Feel Like Playing” is the Faces and Stones wideboy’s most accomplished solo album yet, by virtue of the fact that, recently re-sober and refocussed, he’s playing to all his strengths, and playing damn well.

Playful and affable, much like the man, the album veers from laid back raspy Keef-ish rockers (‘Why’d You Have To Go And Do A Thing Like That For?’) through Jimmy Cliff styled reggae (‘Sweetness my Weakness’), a great version of blues classic ‘Spoonful’ (a subject close to Ronnie’s heart), through rockers and the album closing torch burner par excellence ‘Forever’.

It’s a delightfully ragged album, chock full of guest spots from Billy Gibbons, Slash, Eddie Vedder, Kris Kristofferson, Flea, Stones backing singer Bernard Fowler and more, and I’ve already listened to “I Feel Like Playing” more times than I will ever listen to “A Bigger Bang”. To a Stones fan, that might be all you need to know.
