PINK STEEL
Out At The Devil
2011

Germany’s Pink Steel plough a similar vein of tongue in cheek glam metal to Steel Panther, with the primary difference being that Pink Steel are unashamedly gay.
The album features a few very cool tunes - opener ‘Sausage Party’ (yes, you read that correctly) would have fit comfortably on Britney Fox’s first album, ‘Converter’ has an early 80’s Judas Priest edge, ‘Frodonator’ belongs on the next Spinal Tap album without a doubt, and ‘More To Love’ and ‘Fight For Cock’ are Motley meets AC/DC-fuelled gay Steel Panther-alikes, but the between-song “comedy” vignettes are a bit flaccid and bog proceedings down somewhat.
Obviously a cult act at the moment, whether they will get the wider audience that leader Udo von DuYu craves is debatable, but not even the macho posturing metal community can justifiably begrudge Pink Steel’s pre-occupation with the pornalicious gay lyrics – after all, most glam metal songs are about guys chasing sex and/or love, so a "Pink" version is long overdue, and Pink Steel might just be the ones to hone this formula enough to crossover.
