MONGREL
The New Breed Of Old School EP
Released 2010

Mongrel’s debut EP “Revenge” was a slab of US punk metal that failed to stand out from the crowd despite some good songs and solid riffing.
EP number 2, however, bursts out of the speakers like a bull in Pamplona in July – due in no small part to the recruitment of new vocalist Jessica Sierra, who gels with guitarist/songwriter Adam Savage like twins separated at birth.
An EP full of anger, protest and heavy as fuck riffs, “The New Breed Of Old School” works from start to finish with Gunners/Motorhead/Black Flag attitude in abundance.
One listen to ‘Shut Up Get Dead’ and awesome closing track ‘The World Loves A Tragedy’ (where Sierra really comes into her own over a descending riff not a million miles removed from The Dead Kennedys finest work) is enough to justify the purchase price!
“The New Breed Of Old School” is a great way to blood the new lineup and with new album “Declamation” due at any moment, Mongrel’s star is definitely on the rise.
