On paper it makes no sense at all – metal classics from the likes of Iron Maiden, Pantera, Judas Priest, Skid Row and more, lovingly stripped down and reconstructed as mellow Scando-folk whimsy…

In reality though, it’s the stuff of genius, and songs such as Maiden’s ‘Heaven Can Wait’ and Judas Priest’s ‘United’ are transformed into wonderfully bright numbers perfect to skip through a Nordic waterfall to.

They lose none of their power though, and on sleaze-dripping slabs of darkness like WASP’s ‘I Wanna Be Somebody’, Skid Row’s ‘Youth Gone Wild’ and Guns n’ Roses’ legendary ‘Welcome To The Jungle’, the childlike half whispered vocals of new singer Siri Bergnéhr the songs transform into something altogether creepier, like a child holding a knife in a horror movie.

I dig this album so much I voted it # 12 in my top albums of 2010 – jump on board the Hellsongs kombi yourselves and see what all the fuss is about!
