DIRTY AMERICANS
BLACK FEATHER
RELEASED 2011

With ‘Sunday in Hell’ and ‘9-5 Suicide’ Dirty Americans lay down a template for a great collection of songs that draw on a number of rock-fused influences. The Motor City swagger of those songs draws on punk and a rich vein of Detroit rock in equal measures and is something that runs like a thread through the entire album.
The opening keys of ‘Ain’t Comin’ Back’ fall into a wall of noise that sounds both drenched in blues and stunningly contemporary; and the cover of Bob Segar System’s ‘Lucifer’ is amazing.
Hard to pick favourites here though the immediacy of ‘They’re Coming for me’ has a great riff that’s echoing in my head. I actually love the sound of this album as much as anything I’ve heard this year – and man those guitars!
If you like your music hard, heavy and uncompromising but with a real sense of identity, and dirty blues and stomping bass as side orders then this is an album you should own.
