DC4
Electric Ministry

By David Carruthers

DC4 are one of my favourite bands and 2011's ELECTRIC MINISTRY is
another top notch release from the LA four piece consisting of
members/x-members of Odin (Shawn Duncan), Dio (Rowan Robertson) and
Armored Saint (Jeff Duncan).
The first track, an instrumental intro 'Wrecktory' with acoustic guitar
and distortion effects is a great way to start the album and get the
speakers warmed up for the title track 'Electric Ministry'. Shawn Duncan
shows off his great drumming in this song which keeps reminding me of
'Master of Puppets' with great rock vocals. Although the title track
reminds me of Master of Puppets the album itself is not at all like
anything you would hear from Metallica, if anything more of a heavy Van
Halen. I can't say a bad thing about this album, drums, guitars, bass,
vocals, all work really well together. If you're a fan of Anthrax or
Pantera but also enjoy great rock vocals you won't go wrong with this
album.
'Electric Ministry' is by far the standout track on this album but other
notable songs include the pornographic 'XXX' which really brings the LA
feel to the album, and '25 to Life' which has a real groove to it that
will have you head banging from the get go.
The final track of the album 'Dirty Hands' also deserves a mention,
although it's not my favourite of the album and is a lot slower than
most of the stuff on the album, this is a just great ballad, almost
something you would hear on a Bon Jovi album but not quite as cheesy.
