BLAZIN’ ENTRAILS
Los Barstos EP
2Fast4Love Music, 2011

By Shane Pinnegar

Perth’s Blazin’ Entrails sound like Brian Setzer on the dark side of a three day bender snorting Lemmy’s ashes, doing burnouts in a hotrod made of bones that runs on moonshine.

This is rockabilly that takes no prisoners, and with everything turned up to Eleven don’t waste your time looking for a ballad here.

‘Flamethrower’ and the wild ride that is ‘Weekend At Birnies’ are excellent openers, laying down the Blazin’ Entrails’ turbocharged manifesto from the start, before the instrumental title track recalls the glory days of Dick Dale, the King of The Surf Guitar, and ‘Switchblade’ even veers into Living End territory – albeit with an X-rated lyric.

‘One For The Road Toll’ and ‘Frankenstrip’ bring the EP full circle back to familiar ground for the Entrails – cruising down the highway in some beast of a machine with a tasty beverage, and horror-sploitation madness, 1950’s American drive-in style.

All the hard work and endless gigging is paying off for The Blazin’ Entrails, with “Los Barstos” being another fine, souped up release to play loud whilst tearing up tarmac at terrifying velocity.
