SHANE'S HIGHS OF 2011

It's been a bumper year for new music and we got to see some magnificent live shows, meet and/or talk to some heroes, and continue to expand The Rockpit with a bumper year and more readers than ever!

Getting married to my beautiful rock chica TJ - thankyou to all who pitched in to help make our day so special and thanks especially to TJ & Tia for being the reason behind everything I do xXx

Shane's Disappointments of 2011

I’m sure I won’t be the only reviewer to list Lou Reed & Metallica’s dire “Lulu” collaboration as their biggest disappointment of the year. In hindsight I may have given it even less stars than the 1 ½ I rated it in my review … HERE

Cancelled tours in 2011 included Intense Impact's Quiet Riot, Warrant & L A Guns package, the star studded Van Halen led Soundwave Revolution lineup, and a clutch of smaller shows, including the late January 2012 Perth leg of English punks The Damned's Aussie tour. Majorly heartbreaking.

Van Halen didn't only not tour Australia as promised, no new music was forthcoming despite persistant rumours it would be

And whilst being busy is a good thing, I'm aways dissappointed to read my colleague's top albums of the year only to realise I simply didn't have enough time to listen to everything I would have liked to - if only someone would pay us to do this job, then we could listen to music all day long!

Biggest anticipations for 2012

There’s a lot of great music ready to drop in 2012 - Chainsaw Hookers album is already being touted by US execs as one of the best of the year; we still eagerly await new Van Halen; Black Sabbath are touring - I feel it's going to be a bumper year for hard & heavy rock n' roll!!
