There is no better way to spend a beautiful hot summers’ evening in Perth than watching a great band in concert ! This was my feeling as we went to see the ever enduring Fleetwood Mac.

Twelve thousand people turned up to watch what was billed as their ‘Greatest Hits Concert and were not disappointed.

Starting the evening off with ‘Monday morning’ from their self-titled 1975 album they continued with a series of classic songs including ‘The Chain’, ‘Rhiannon’ and ‘Tusk’.

Stevie Nicks is still beautiful and at the age of 61, looks fabulous. Her years of singing with the band have, however, taken their toll and her voice struggled to cope with the higher notes, although she is so mesmerising, no-one seemed to care.

Guitarist and singer, Lindsey Buckingham, shared the spotlight with his former partner in love and the chemistry between them was still evident. They shared the same affectionate moments on stage, much to the delight of the crowd.

Between songs, Stevie and Lindsey reminisced about their early days together, recalling the Days they shared a stage with Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

It took until the first encore for Mr Fleetwood to do his drum solo in ‘World Turning’ and also to introduce the band, including his “right hand man” on bass, John McVie.

The set finished with ‘Go You Own Way’ which had the crowd singing and dancing, followed by an encore including ‘Don’t Stop’ and a second encore ‘Silver Springs’.

The highlights for me were ‘Gold Dust Woman’ and wondering what beautiful dress Stevie would be wearing next.
