Hi, for starters wonderful weblog, but is any person else seeing the sidebar all messed up making use of firefox edition two? It truly is pushed about to your centre for me. =-=
Proteges of Enuff Z’Nuff’s Chip Z’Nuff, who produced the first four tracks here in 1990, Pistol Dawn aren’t as psychedelic or “druggy” sounding as their one-time mentor, but they do have as good a handle on how to spin a good melody as Chip.
This is another unearthed gem in the EONIAN RECORDS reissue series, and another example of a band who, a couple of years earlier, probably would have scored themselves a big record deal and a big name producer to take these classy demos to the next level.
The title track is probably the strongest number of the ten on offer here, but there’s plenty of promise in ‘Dreams Come True’, the cheeky ‘Message In A Bottle’, the instantly unforgettable ‘Hard Way’ and pretty much everything here, including the lovely ballad ‘Wish upon A Star’, which with the right production and record company push could’ve easily performed as well as Extreme’s ‘More Than Words’.
Miss the good old days of big riffs and bigger choruses? They’re back and sounding great!
