‘God of War’ is an early standout in a traditional metal syle, whilst ‘Break These Chains’ would be at home on any Dio or Queensryche album and features some exotically spiced guitar breaks.
‘Wish You Well’s Maidenesque guitar leads and an instantly irresistible chorus make it another highlight of an action packed album, and guest vocals from Vanishing Point’s Silvio Massaro on album opener ‘Far Beyond’ and closer ‘Witching Hour’ help them soar and dive like an eagle in flight.
Black Majesty sound, if anything, more European than Australian, and prove on “In your Honour” that they are the equal of any Traditional or Power metal band in the world, as no doubt they will show during their June tour of Europe. If you’re into classic metal in the vein of Dio, Helloween or Judas Priest, spiced up with the modernity of Dragonforce (but without the insane-to-the-point-of-being-tongue-in-cheek turbo charged duelling lead guitars), then Black Majesty are for you.
