I had the idea for the Rockpit years and years ago, but it wasn't until 2009 and a meeting of like minds that it all fell into place. The final push I needed came after talking to George Lynch after a Lynch Mob gig in Perth, Western Australia. He told me "stop talking about it, just do it man" that night I met Shane and we shared the vision and here we are...
I have a pretty broad taste in music, but for me it always comes back to the guitar. I love everything: from Blues and Soul; the Glam and Rock icons of the seventies; the big hair eighties; the bands that kept their identity in the nineties; through to today's bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Trivium. My real love though is that kind of bluesy sleaze rock that sounds and smells like it just crawled out of the gutter. It all really started with Aerosmith.
My first concert was UFO, then Tina Turner, then Girlschool. In 2010 I hit my 500 concert milestone without even realising it at the Scorpions and Cinderella show in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to become addicted to rock at a very early age as my father had a huge collection of vinyl. In there I found so much I still love today: The Stones, Zeppelin, Cream, Free, Bad Company, Humble Pie, The Faces, Ray Charles, Queen and Hendrix. I was a registered addict by the age of ten.
I spent the eighties at the legendary Monsters of Rock festivals in the UK and at Rock City a club in Nottingham which hosted all of the bands from the Strip in LA. As a student I had a four to five gig a week habit! I've lived in Australia now since the nineties and spend much of my free time and money rocking out downunder and making regular trips to the States.
I love art, and trained originally as a graphic designer and photographer. I still dabble in art- most of the original images on the site are mine, and I love to photograph live bands (check out mt Facebook). I read a lot, I write constantly.
I love to travel, especially overseas, and over the last few years holidays have become a succession of gigs and festivals. Be warned though I will talk music for hours...

Australian born & bred, Shane Pinnegar has managed to lived and work in 5 countries and visited quite a few more, often using his chef skills to scrape by. Despite the first gig he remembers being Abba aged 12, and enjoying an Adam & The Ants phase aged 14, he quickly progressed through Queen, Rose Tattoo, The Hard-Ons, Iron Maiden and Metallica (most of these phases he as never outgrown) and now proudly champions the cause of dirty, filthy, sleazy rock n' roll; hard n' heavy metal; classic seventies hard rock; hard n' dirty blues and much more besides.
Growing up in Perth - the world's most isolated regional capital city - meant he missed out on many tours and gigs his contempories were fortunate enough to see, but he has done is utmost to make up for it in more recent years, and his CD collection is amongst his proudest possessions.
Old enough to know better but young enough to keep on doing it, Shane unwinds by stopping his 3 year old daughter Tia from trashing his record and CD collection, alternately educating and corrupting his nascent rock chick Trulie, worshipping at the altar of Rock, and wishing he actually had one iota of musical ability beyond being able to seriously annoy his neighbours!
Shane developed the grand vision for a hard rock & metal magazine unlike any other whilst in his teens, and refined that vision into an online webzine with the advent of the internet in the late nineties. He finally managed to put this plan into action after finding a kindred spirit and rock brother in Mark in December 2008 at a Faster Pussycat/Lynch Mob gig, and over many pints The Rockpit was born.

Is the 'Rock Chick’ of the Rockpit and has loved loud rock music since her school days, when the sounds of Rush,The Scorpions, Iron Maiden and Queen, rang out of her sixth form common room! She went through her hippie phase, following the sounds of Free and Bad Company, in the seedy nightclubs around Yorkshire! The Castle Donnington music festival became an annual pilgrimage for her and her friends. Next stop was Rock City, Nottingham, where great music, live bands, and lots of beer became a way of life. Jo's aim for this site is to provide a ladies perspective, of this great music that we all love.
We also owe her big-time for the hours of research and transcribing she puts in.
Born in a ditch on the outskirts of Detroit in the 60’s, young Billy survived on Pecan pie crusts and Dr Pepper slops whilst recycling cans for change – leading to his nick name Metal Billy ( AKA Crazy Garbage Kid ).
After attending his first rock concert, being Kiss in 1980, the die was cast when he saw some snippets of Iron Maiden’s Number of the Beast and Motorhead’s Iron Fist on TV and he was set on the path of metal, beginning with the NWOBHM bands and the beginnings of Thrash Metal with Metallica and Co then backtracking to discover the raw power of Sabbath, Purple and their ilk. An early partnership was forged with Shane Rockpit as occasional guest drunks on 6UVS FM Gods of Thunder weekly program, lifelong Soldiers of Metal ( and other assorted Rock Genres ) and Mullet’s-at-large.
Metal Billy leans more towards the thrash / power / stoner area of the Rock World and will sporadically appear out of nowhere, drink all your alcoholic beverages, get your parrot stoned, steal your best CD’s and leave a critique written in bodily fluids on your refrigerator door.
Current day faves : Machine Head, Lamb of God, The Haunted, Trivium, High on Fire
Trulie is Shane's muse and protege, having enjoyed rock music from afar for all of her adult life (not as closely as she would have liked, due to unforseen domestic circumstances), her love for the best music in the world was rekindled and reborn when she met and fell for Shane in 2008.
Now an established rock chica, her rock education evolves daily and her voice is getting stronger and louder with each successive gig and review that she writes.
From her humble first gig as a nine year old (Iron Maiden & Praying Mantis in London, 1980!!) she has now racked up many hard and heavy rock show notches on her belt - with plenty more to come!
PAUL:
I’m UK born and bred and recently made the move to Perth Australia. I must admit, I have to blame my mother for my passion in music, due to her placing me next to the radio to make me sleep when I was a baby. From then on, I have grown to love all kinds of music varying from the late sixties/early seventies - Hendrix, Free, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and the Doors, through to the Sex Pistols, and the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
Teenage years went through the phase of long hair, leather fringed jackets and the constant lingering smell of petunia oil and spending all my spare cash on buying albums and rare rock records from Reddingtons Rare Records in Birmingham. I remember my first concert as if it was yesterday. Diamond Head at Stourbridge Town Hall in 1981, this concert then inspired me to set the craze of being a regular concert addict. Other concerts then involved Birmingham Odeon and Wolverhampton Civic.
I became hungry to experience the more outdoor festivals/concerts, Donington Monsters of rock, V festival and the local festival Noz stock which took hold of my love of music to a higher level. Music is my passion and I will never grow too old for! I am up for a challenge and always happy to give my opinion on up and forth coming artists/music entering the

TANYA:
I was born and bred in the UK and recently moved to Perth, Australia. My rock music influence all started back in the early 80’s when I started playing Iron Maiden full blast from an old cassette recorder, and wearing my faded short denim skirts along with the matching denim jacket’s that were scribed Judas Priest and AC/DC in bold permanent marker and the lingering smell of petunia oil which I thought smelt quite appealing at the time!
Tattooed and fiery as Hell!!!! Scottish born and bred, Helen H, lives and breathes Rock N Roll. After many career changes her final calling was rock. Starting off writing album reviews for an American magazine it wasn't long till she was in the field and interviewing. It was during this time she was introduced to Shane and later Trulie. Whist doing this she took on the roll as a promoter, for an American band before recently setting up her own Promotions company, currently working with American, British and one Australian band. She is a busy gal. Helen has passion and flare for this industry and believes that it's not only the major label artists that deserve the limelight. There is plenty of unsigned diamonds out there, and they need to be heard.
Influences:- sisters of mercy( they turned me goth), The Cult, The Mission, Souxsie
and the Banshees Motörhead, Motley Crüe, Alice Cooper, marilyn Manson and Rob Zombie What I am into now :- Rob Zombie, Alice cooper, BABYJANE (AU) Slipknot, Spit like This, The Cult and Motley Crüe I could go on forever
Interests - Gigs, rock, my bairns, photography, finding that band that makes you say Wow, tattoos and piercings

..and joining the ranks are our occasional contributors from the US and the UK:
My introduction to the world of rock & metal was a sledgehammer upside the head known as “Blackout” by the Scorpions. I sat in my backyard in mesmerized by the radio broadcast of Metal Day of the 1983 US Festival, but didn’t get my first real concert experience until April 1984 with the aforementioned Scorpions. Shows by Judas Priest, Dio & Iron Maiden soon followed and gave me a musical direction & purpose. I’m a veteran of over 300 concerts on two continents and have extensive knowledge of many different musical genres, my favorite being 80s hair/glam/sleaze. I have lived in California my entire life, play drums, golf & poker, and I’m an aspiring concert photographer. In recent years, I’ve gotten involved with US festivals such as Rocklahoma & Rock-n-America with my sexy, rockin’ wife, Evangeline (aka Evil), who considers me her man candy & occasional muse. We established the Garden of Evil in 2008 as a campground after party and it’s turning into a full-fledged business. Music is my life and I feel blessed to be a part of The Rockpit team as we plan for world domination!!!! Rock the FUCK on!!
I remember it distinctly. It was the spring of 1976. I was at Jeff Kristola's house just to catch a glimpse of his sister Tina. I was 6 and she was in her late teens and really cute. That's when I saw it... and I couldn't turn my head... I started to go crazy wanting to touch it... I had to have it... the seminal album "Alive!" from Kiss. It was as if my world was created at that moment. From then on, it had to be loud, catchy, and something my parents hated. Thanks to a promise from a dad who thought they were a flash in the pan, I got to see KISS July 13, 1979 at the Pontiac Silverdome. From there, I moved on to all of the fun of 80's rock. I now had my musical footprint firmly planted and it had me heading in the right direction.
Having attended well over 300 concerts in my 40 years, I am still expanding my love for the different genres of Rock. My newest love is some harder metal (gotta love God Forbid, Kittie, Gwen Stacy - check out the cool interviews), but I will never lose my love for 80's rock, as it opened up a friendship with some cool rockers (thanks again for attending the GOE [Garden of Evil] party, Dario and Lizzy [of Lizzy Borden, pictured with Todd above]), but my lasting friendship... who am I kidding, introduction to lost members of my family - Evil, Aaron, Shane, and all other GOE members (too many to list by name).
Known to most simply as Rockin CPA, my true loves are my hotter than hell wife Jamie, Rugby playing animal son Fred, my closest friends (even if they try to kill me), my music collection, and spending my spare time volunteering with the American Cancer Society. God help you if you try to take ANY of them from me.
Music has always been my mistress (if you ask Jamie, she will tell you it is either music or Evil herself!) and being a part of the Rockpit team is truly a blessing and welcome addition to my music passion (dare I say fetish???)... Thanks Shane and Mark.
See you all in the PIT!!!

GREG & JESS
My name is Greg Yarbrough AKA Trekkie AKA Rip Ryder, and I work for GNJ Enterprises. My wife and I do concert photography and have recently entered the photo-journalist arena. We have been married for over 17 years and have three awesome kids. We enjoy the music industry and have worked as a street team leader, a 'manager' of a local band and a photographer. After leaving that behind, my wife and I have focused on rock journalism, photography and interviewing. We have a lot to learn and a long way to go, but we are looking forward to the challenge!
STEVE
Steve IS old school rock, and loves all the classics from Lizzy and UFO to Kiss. Rock is very simple - it needs a killer tune, melody and a big bad attitude. But there is another side to Steve and it's dark... it's the rock that lights up at midnight and starts with W.A.S.P. and ends with Slayer. Steve is theRockpit.net's occaisional UK correspondent
We've plenty of room for more so if you love great music and want to get involved - please send us a review, submit a photo or two or maybe a killer article or some cool artwork.
Everyone has something to offer, what you give is what you get... let's make this our place from which to rock the world!
